Designed for enthusiasts looking for maximum protection and performance. With precision, cutting-edge technology and a long-standing commitment to becoming the best engine oil in the world. The result: engine protection that blows away the data from the highest industry standards.
Protects against engine wear
AMSOIL Signature Series Synthetic Motor Oil develops a strong lubricant film that keeps metal surfaces separated, while durable anti-wear additives further reduce wear in metal-to-metal contact areas for maximum engine life. The IVA sequence engine test, which must be passed to meet the specifications of the API SN industry standard, simulates extended stop-and-go driving sessions. For 100 hours, the test engine is run between 50 minutes of idling and 10 minutes of high revs – conditions that encourage engine wear. The camshaft is then measured for wear at 84 locations and the average score is determined. We used Signature Series 0W-20, the lightest viscosity in the line, to further increase the severity of the test. AMSOIL Signature Series Synthetic Motor Oil provides 75% more engine protection against loss of horsepower and wear compared to industry standard requirements, extending the life of vital components such as pistons and cams.
After rigorous third-party testing, the camshaft lobes show minimal wear. |
Protects pistons from low-speed pre-ignition
We have enhanced the Signature Series with an advanced detergent system that protects against harmful deposits and low-speed pre-ignition (LSPI). Most new engines feature direct gasoline injection (GDI), often combined with a turbocharger to increase power and improve fuel economy. These new technologies, when combined with a lightly formulated engine oil, promote LSPI and threaten engine operation. LSPI is the spontaneous ignition of the fuel/air mixture prior to spark ignition. It occurs in today’s advanced engines and is far more destructive than typical pre-ignition. A properly formulated engine oil is critical to protecting your engine.Original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), such as GM*, have addressed the issue by designing tests to determine the ability of engine oil to prevent LSPI. Signature Series Synthetic Motor Oil achieved 100% protection against LSPI in the engine test required by the GM dexos1 Gen 2 specification – zero occurrences were recorded in five consecutive tests.
Protects the turbochargers
Our unique synthetic formulation is inherently stable to resist oxidation and neutralize acids. Signature Series Engine Oil provides excellent protection against deposits common in high temperature engine environments. The enormous temperatures and pressures generated by turbos cause the oils to break down and form dangerous and destructive deposits through a process known as turbo coking. Over time, turbochargers can suffer reduced performance or fail completely. We have imposed the Signature Series on the CTC Turbo Coking test, which consists of 2000 cycles under extreme temperature conditions. An oil must limit the temperature change within the turbocharger to 13% or less to pass the test. The Signature Series limits temperature rise to just 3.6%, protecting the turbocharger 72% more than the GM dexos1® Gen 2 specification requires.
Fewer Changes: Guaranteed protection
AMSOIL Signature Series Synthetic Motor Oil provides backup protection, allowing you to go longer between oil changes by choosing – up to 40,000 miles , 700 hours of operation or one year, whichever comes first*. Our unique synthetic formulation and long-draining additive system are inherently stable to resist oxidation and neutralize acids over longer periods of time. The Signature Series is designed to provide exceptional engine protection, cleanliness and performance over extended drain intervals – guaranteed. It provides flexibility, so you can tailor oil changes to your schedule.

Maintains horsepower
The exceptional durability of Signature Series engine oil ensures that your engine will run stronger for longer. We installed Signature Series Synthetic Motor Oil 5W-30 in a Ford* F-150 with a new 3.5-liter Ecoboost engine to test its ability to protect turbocharged direct injection (TDGI) engines from torque and horsepower loss during extended drain intervals of up to 40,000 miles. A power scan was performed at the beginning and end of the test to evaluate horsepower and torque retention. As the graph shows, the Signature Series helped maintain engine performance throughout the 160,000 km test.
Limits oil consumption
The Signature Series has a uniform molecular structure that restricts exhaust and keeps it where it’s needed most – protecting your engine. Volatility (combustion) occurs when the lubricant is heated, causing light molecules to burn or evaporate. This leads to oil thickening, imbalance of additives, higher emissions and oil consumption. The NOACK variability test is the industry standard for evaluating high temperature engine oil exhaust. It measures the rate of combustion after the engine oil has been under continuous air flow at 250ºC for 1 hour. A lower number indicates better resistance to evaporation. The Signature range falls well below the API limit for variability, reducing the need for frequent oil shortages and limiting vehicle emissions.
Easier cold start
Signature synthetic engine oil does not contain paraffins (wax) and remains liquid at temperatures of -50ºC and below. The extreme cold causes other engine oils to thicken, melt vital lubrication moving parts, accelerate wear and even prevent vehicles from starting. The Signature Series provides 66% better cold temperature performance for easier starting, better fuel economy, improved oil flow (as shown below) and reduced wear.
Keeps the viscosity protected
We formulated the Signature range with excellent thermal resistance that resists breakdown better than conventional and synthetic motor oils. The IIIH sequence test uses the Chrysler 3.6L Pentastar engine to evaluate the ability of the engine oil to resist the damaging effects of heat. The test is conducted at oil temperatures of 151ºC, 38ºC warmer than normal operation, to accelerate oil thickening and deposits. Despite the extreme conditions, the Signature series kept the pistons clean and held its thickness to just 6%, a tiny amount compared to the recommended specification limit of 150%. 1 This performance helps maintain maximum power and fuel economy; technologies such as variable valve timing (VVT) operate as designed throughout the drain interval.
